2002 :
Usthen is a progressive blackmetal group created in Paris (France) by Meltear (unic member). Influences at the begining where mainly based on raw blackmetal as Darkthrone, Graveland,. Nowadays, it has evolved to other kinds of bands like Enslaved, Edge of Sanity, Unholy, Arcturus, Death, ethnic and symphonic film music. The main goal is expressing feelings without any musical compromises threw a total autoproduction.

2006 :
After a long period of silence, Meltear gathered the past compositions to release a
First album: “to Usthenjökull“ (Autoproduction, not signed)
It deals with the story of a man traveling in a dimension, taking part in an ultimate world conflict. He finally betrays and kills his human "brothers", and keeps traveling to other dimensions.
2007 :
A Second album : "Skaftafell : The Conjonction of the Elements” (Autoproduction, not signed)
This album deals with “to Usthenjökull”'s character. In this second act, he keeps traveling on a flying drakkar. Arriving in a valley where Oüros (Master of Time) calls the 4 Elements to destroy and start a new world. The ship pass threw this cataclysm and finally arrives in a doomy place where The Human civilisation (nowadays damned to live eternally), settled. This CD tells about the eternal and extreme cycle of Nature and the pathetic side of human being.
